ladders

Ladders in the world are many
It takes effort to climb
Leaning against a brick wall are they
Upon the plains at hand

An observer sees the people
Jostling upon the rungs
Neither do they see beyond the wall
Nor do they have opportunity to stroll

Kept off the lower rungs
The observer idly strolls the meadow
Captivated by the charms
Of a life devoid of lingo

He worries about the future
Of someone that they hold
In their game of snakes and ladders
How far should the observer stroll?
